Made by Edison-Bell Ltd.; London

Edison Bell of Peckham, South London, was the longest-established British talking machine company. It began in the 1890s offering imported machines from Edison and Columbia. It had no connection with Edison’s own company, beyond the name. This machine resembled an Edison Gem but is less well made. It was one of a new range of phonographs offered in 1906 – the Elf, Imp, Era and Don. Edison Bell’s Peckham factory was the first in Europe to mass produce moulded cylinders in a thermoplastic wax compound. By 1914, Edison Bell abandoned cylinder and phonograph production.
